Thomaston – Mrs. Celia (Pratt) Belonick, 85, of Thomaston, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the widow of Mr. John Belonick, Sr.

Celia was born on Nov. 19, 1928 in Litchfield, daughter of the late Lester and Anna (Anderson) Pratt. Celia enjoyed bowling, gardening, baking and cherished the time she was able to spend with her sisters. She was an avid fan of basketball, particularly the UConn Huskies and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Celia is survived by her children, John Belonick, Jr., of Vietnam, Richard Belonick, of Terryville, Jill Moore, of Bridgeport, and Karen Tablan and her husband, J.R., of Wolcott; her sisters, Betty Chouinard and her husband, George, of Watertown, and Linda Cables of Thomaston; six grandchildren, Timothy Moore, Amy Edouard and her husband, Dave, Matthew Belonick, Paul Tablan, Allan Tablan and Sterling Moore; a great-grandson, Blake Grenier; a brother-in-law, John Briggs, of Vermont; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Eleanor Wilson, Joan Armbruster Lassy, Barbara Cook and Sally Briggs; and a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Belonick.

The family would like to thank the staff at Companions and Homemakers who helped Celia in the final months of her life.

Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 P.M. Burial will be held in Hillside Cemetery in Terryville at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made in Celia’s name to the Thomaston Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 237 South Main Street - Thomaston, CT 06787
