Thomaston – Mrs. H. Lillian (Gustafson) Butkevich, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 3, at Litchfield Woods in Torrington. She was the wife of Peter Butkevich.

Lillian was born January 14, 1926, in Thomaston, daughter of the late Oscar and Hilda (Nelson) Gustafson. Lillian was a lifelong resident of Thomaston. She was also a lifelong and active member of the Covenant Church. She always enjoyed celebrating her Swedish heritage. She lovingly and graciously served her family and community as a homemaker, babysitter, and caregiver.

In addition to her husband Peter, of 65 years, she is survived by, two sons, John P. Butkevich and his wife Mary of Thomaston and Richard A. Butkevich and his wife Paula of Pomfret; three daughters, Margrit E. Fusco and her husband Joseph of Easley, SC, Karen J. Johnson and her husband Joseph of Plymouth and Karol J. Nicoletti and her husband Rick of Burlington; one sister, Margaret Carlson of Cromwell; seventeen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan A. Butkevich, her sister, Ebba Gill and her brother, Roland Gustafson.
