Thomaston - Lawrence G. Goad, 83, passed away on Sunday morning, February 11, 2018 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Jean (Mongelluzzo) Goad.

Larry was born in Montpelier, Vermont, son of the late Laurence H. Goad and Herminie (Rheaume) Goad. He grew up in St. Albans, Vermont and joined the United States Navy in 1955. A Korean War veteran, he was an aviation metalsmith. Larry was a member of the Air Anti Submarine Squadron Eight Three One and had a number of duty stations including the USS Kuala Gulf and the USS Monterey. He spent the majority of his time at the U.S. Naval Base on Guam. Upon honorable discharge, he settled in Connecticut becoming a Progressive toolmaker working in the greater Waterbury area. He retired from Stewart EFI in December of 1999. Larry enjoyed being retired. His hobbies included golf, meticulously landscaping his yard, caring for his dogs and walking at the Thomaston Dam. He was a member of American Legion Post 111 in Dallas, GA.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Sharon, her husband Bill, granddaughter Marissa; son, Raymond, his wife Donna and grandchildren Ashley, Vincent, David and Sean. He is also survived by his brother Robert Goad, sister-in-law Pat Goad, brother-in-law Adam Colagrossi, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his sister Cecile (Goad) Baserwski and brother Gerard (Jerry) Goad.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Valerie Manor nursing home where Larry lived for the past several years. A special thanks to all the staff, nurses and aides at Meadowview South.

Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 14th from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, February 15th, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to American Legion Post 111, P.O. Box 58, Dallas, GA 30132.
