Mrs Loretta Y. Roy

Loretta Yvonne Roy, 104, passed away on March 21, 2024.

Daughter of the late Sylva and Eugine Chenette she was born on October 6, 1919 in Three Rivers Canada. She was the oldest of 3 brothers and 3 sisters. She married Armand J.Roy in 1938. She is predeceased by her husband, brothers and sisters and two sons Dennis and Ronald.

Loretta is survived by her son Armand J. (Diane) Roy, Jr. of Thomaston, CT and Raymond (Linda) Roy of Narragansett, RI. She leaves 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Loretta worked in the Woolen Mills in the greater Norwich area for many years. Later on she worked at the State Hospital in Preston, CT from where she retired.

Loretta enjoyed polka and country music and attended many dances. She enjoyed spending weekends with her family poolside and many games of croquet and cards.

In 2019 she moved to The Workman in Torrington to be near her son Armand. She enjoyed it there and made many friends. In November of 2023 she was moved to Wolcott Hall due to health issues.

The family wishes to thank The Workman and Wolcott Hall for their care and kindness and a special thank you to Leigh Ganung and staff of All About You Home Health Care for administrating to Loretta’s needs while she was at The Workman. Also a thank you to Jennifer, her hairdresser, who came to The Workman weekly to do Loretta’s hair.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Michele Cyr for all her love, support and care looking after Loretta “her adopted grandmother” while she was at The Workman and Wolcott Hall.

Funeral services will be held in Norwich at the convenience of the family.
