Thomaston – Mrs. Margareth (Weyermann) Meschter, 81, passed away on Saturday, May 27, at the Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of Johannes Meschter.

Margareth was born April 9, 1936 in Switzerland, daughter of the late Andreas and Frieda (Boller) Weyermann. In 1959 she emigrated to the United States and settled in Bristol, she married her husband in 1960. They moved to Thomaston in 1964. She had been employed at Iseli Swiss Machine Screw in Terryville for several years, and had also worked as a home health aide for the VNA. Margareth and Johannes opened the Hans and Fritz Delicatessen in Farmington and operated it for 12 years. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Church.

Margareth will be remembered for her love and skiing and her involvement with the Butternut Basin Ski School in Great Barrington, MA. She enjoyed the beach and volunteered at the gift shop at Waterbury Hospital.

In addition to her husband she is survived by one son, Stephan J. Meschter and his wife Karen of Endicott, NY; two daughters, Christine Monica Ward and her husband Roddie of Great Falls, Montana and Michele Ann Fletcher and her husband Nate of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; four siblings in Switzerland; three grandchildren, Andreas, Holly Anne and Tomas and three great-grandchildren, Gemma, Ivy and Andrew.

Arrangements: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 1, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be private. A luncheon will follow Mass in the church hall.
