Obituary

A. Patricia Harlow (nee Dubeau)

Patricia Harlow passed away on September 9, 2025 at 101 years old. She was born on August 21, 1924 to Joseph and Annie Dubeau in Derry, New Hampshire. She had a challenging upbringing growing up during the Great Depression and attending college during World War II. She contributed to the war effort during summers working for General Electric's assembly line and often submitted suggestions to improve productivity.

She graduated from Plymouth State Teachers College (now Plymouth State College) in 1944. Her career in education was long and varied, starting as a high school science teacher in West Lebanon NH to teaching in a one-room schoolhouse with no running water in Rumney NH. After several moves, she settled permanently with her family in Plymouth CT where she taught fifth grade at Plymouth Center School for about 15 years until she received her Masters degree, sixth year and guidance certificates from Central Connecticut State University.

At age 50, she changed careers to become a guidance counselor and, ultimately, Director of Guidance for Terryville High School. After retirement, she substituted for guidance staff until age 75.

Patricia was a great friend to all of those who knew her. She had friends of all ages, and some spoke of how she was a wonderful mentor and role model. She loved her summer home at Squam Lake where she was able to stay close to her family and NH friends.

She had a passion for reading, movies and the arts. She loved classical music and opera. Her talents included the kitchen as well. Even in her nineties she won blue ribbons at the Bethlehem Fair for her baked goods. She was a world traveler touching every continent except Antarctica.

She leaves behind her son Michael Harlow of Englewood FL, and her daughter Lesley Harlow and son-in-law Mitchell Siegel of Commack NY. She also leaves behind her nephew Peter Kisselburgh of Thomaston CT and niece Shelley Renehan of West Lebanon NH. She has several grand nieces and a great grand nephew.
