Thomaston CT - Barbara Jane (Cahill) Hotchkiss, widow of Russell W. (Bill) Hotchkiss Sr., surrounded by her loving family, entered into eternal rest on August 5th, 2016, after a short, but bravely fought, bout with cancer.
The daughter of Stephen & Irene Cahill, she was born February 23, 1952 in Presque Isle, Maine. She, along with her beloved husband of 42 years, Bill, was the co-owner of Barbs Variety on East Main St. in Thomaston CT.
For 36 years at her coffee shop, she blessed all of her customers, friends and family with her kindness and caring nature. She was always there to lend a shoulder, or a helping hand and most of the time while carrying a baby on her hip.
She will be greatly missed by her children, family and loved ones: Mark Hotchkiss, his wife Kristina and their daughter Callahan (Callie) of Newington; Benjamin Hotchkiss, his wife Jennifer and their children Aubrie, Stefanie and Jacob of Thomaston; Lizabeth Hotchkiss and her children Kyle, Katarina and Kasey Beck of Bristol; Russell W. (Billy) Hotchkiss Jr., sons Russell William Hotchkiss III, Maxwell Hotchkiss and their mother Shane Cayer of Southington; her sisters Alberta, Jean, Norma & Linda, and her loving companion Garry Dew. She was predeceased by her siblings Albert, Mary, Joan, Charlie, Tom, Richard, and Roger.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Waterbury Hospital and Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, as well as the many friends and family members who provided loving care and countless visits throughout Barbaras illness.
Arrangements: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13th, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church, One East Main St. Thomaston. There are no calling hours.
