Thomaston Barbara A. Mendicino, 74, of Litchfield Street, died Saturday September 25, 2010, at Waterbury Hospital after a long illness. She was the widow to John Mendicino.
Barbara was born on December 18, 1935 in Waterbury, to the late Robert and Mary (Clark) Sanderson and was the youngest to eleven brothers and sisters. She was a Thomaston High School graduate, Class of 1953. She worked for twenty three years at Fullers 5&10 in Thomaston. Barbara was a family oriented woman; she was an excellent cook and baker; always feeding the neighborhood kids with the doors open to her childrens friends. She had enjoyment in quilting and sewing and was also a painter.
Barbara is survived by three sons, Joseph and his wife Linda Mendicino of Watertown, John and MaryLou Mendicino of North Granby, James Mendicino of Thomaston, a daughter Marcia Mendicino of Terryville, three sisters, Shirley Innes of Thomaston, Jean Powers of Unionville, Katherine Oakes of Thomaston, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by many brothers and sisters.
Arrangements: Services are private. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. At her familys request, memorial contributions may be made to the Thomaston Volunteer Fire Department or to the Thomaston Volunteer Ambulance.
