Northfield Mr. Barry William Johnston, 76, of Northfield, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019 at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Kathleen (Geer) Johnston. Barry was born on April 29 1943, son of the late John and Gertrude (Baldwin) Johnston. Barry enjoyed Sprint Car racing and cherished the time he was able to spend with his loving family. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and UConn Husky womens basketball fan. Barry was a Tool & Die Maker who with his wife started and operated Johnston Tool & Die Co in Northfield and Torrington CT. Besides his wife Kathleen, Barry is survived by his children, Brian William Johnston and his wife Laura, and Lee Daryl Johnston and his wife Jill; ten grandchildren, Grady, Sydney, Kiersten, Abigail, Gianna, Caleb, Alexa, Micah, Gabrielle, and Christian; his brother Darwin Johnston and his wife Dawn; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Linda Perbeck. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 27 at 11:00 A.M. at Torringford Cemetery, 1622 Torringford St., Torrington.
