Obituary

Thomaston- Mr. Bernard C. Hoyt, 80, of Hickory Hill Rd. died Monday, July 7 at the Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Janet (MacLean) Hoyt. Mr. Hoyt was born July 8, 1927 in Boston, MA son of the late Bernard W. and Ruth (Hurd) Hoyt. Raised in Thomaston he attended local schools and had served honorably in the United States Navy during WWII. After his discharge from the Navy he was self employed as a carpenter for many years. He later went to work for the Colonial Bank and Trust Company as a carpenter, eventually retiring from the Bank of Boston. For over fifty five years he was a member of the ski patrol at Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall, he had coached little league and Babe Ruth baseball in Thomaston for many years, was a scout master for Troop 53 and was avid square dancer. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. In addition to his wife he is survived by three sons, William D. Hoyt of Ellington, James M. Hoyt of Hamden and David S. Hoyt of Watertown, MA and three grandchildren, Shane, Logan and Maximus. He was predeceased by a brother, Walter E. Hoyt. Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, July 10 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston.
