Obituary

Thomaston- Mrs. Bernice (Barnell) Malley, 98, formerly of East Main St., died peacefully Sunday, January 16, at Valerie Manor in Torrington. She had been the wife of the late Maurice J. Malley for 66 years. Mrs. Malley was born May 2, 1912 in Shelton daughter of the late Lawrence and Jochima (Suruda) Barnell. She had been employed by Wallace Barnes of Bristol for 37 years, retiring in 1979. She enjoyed life to the fullest, living with her twin sister, Estelle, until her death in January 2007. She will be missed by everyone, especially her niece Jerrene Zawisza of Planstville, who she was very close to in her life. She leaves one sister, Loretta Russ of Thomaston and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, whom she loved very much and her friend of 70 years Dotty Paczkowski. She was predeceased by her sisters, her twin sister, Estelle Barnell, Veronica Barnell, Anne (Barnell) Bassett and Mary (Barnell) Skrzypiec. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Valerie Manor for the care Bernice received while a resident there as well as the VNS of Torrington and Companions and Homemakers. Arrangements: A memorial service will be held at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. on Saturday, January 29, at 12:00 P.M. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
