Obituary

Thomaston - Mr. Charles E. Viets, 91, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 at the Cook-Willow Convalescence Hospital in Plymouth. Charles was born on May 5, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Elwyn A. and Phoebe (Hildenbrand) Viets. A lifetime resident of Thomaston, he was a graduate of Thomaston High School, class of 1941. After graduating high school, he served honorably in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Charles enjoyed traveling, spending time with loved ones and was employed at the Seth Thomas Clock Company for 50 years before his retirement. Charles is survived by one brother, Roland Viets, of Thomaston, three nephews; Paul, Brian and David Viets, three nieces; Maureen Laplante, Diane Viets, and Sara Viets, 12 Grand-nieces and nephews, and two cousins; Adele Erickson and Donna Opalak. He is predeceased by one brother, Paul R. Viets, who gave his life while serving in World War II. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 22, at 11 a.m. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
