IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David H
Galusha
November 19, 1941 – December 17, 2025
Torrington – David H. Galusha, 84, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Edith (Teetsel) for 62 years.
Dave was born in Oneonta, New York, on November 19, 1941, the son of the late Merl and Bernice (Davie) Galusha and brother, Rev. Merl Galusha Jr. He graduated from Houghton College in 1963. Most of his career involved directing personnel and marketing at several Connecticut banks. He was a board member at The Wheeler Clinic and Tunxis Community College for many years.
A man of deep faith, Dave was an active church member, served on the diaconate for several terms, and sang in the choir. He, his wife, children, and Dennis LaPlante formed a musical group called Patchwork, which performed throughout Connecticut and raised funds for church projects. However, his musical experiences with his family were not limited to Patchwork. He was also a member of the Barnstormers and Liederkranz, two men’s choruses. He became a dedicated Lewis S. Mills band parent, while his children were involved in the music program and marched in every parade with them.
As grandparents, Dave and Edie enjoyed babysitting their grandchildren. He was an exuberant presence at as many of his grandchildren's events as possible, whether they were sports or musical venues. His grandchildren meant the world to him.
After retirement, Dave and Edie often traveled to Italy, where he became enchanted with all things Italian. This sparked his interest in photography and in selling photos at craft fairs.
Including his wife, Edie, he leaves behind his four children, Amanda McGrew (Jason), Christina Hice (Jeffrey), Jeffrey Galusha (Kendra), and Joshua Galusha (Stephany); his treasured grandchildren, Andrew, John, David, Lily, Willow, Elizabeth, Zachary, Jonas, Xander, Thomas, and Mae; former daughter-in-law, Lauren Rosa; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 9, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Thomaston.
Burial will be held in the spring.
