Watertown - Mr. David A. Smith, 80, of Watertown, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, July 14, 2015 at Litchfield Woods in Torrington after an extended illness.
David was born on Feb. 21, 1935 in Hartford, son of the late Ralph E. and Marion (Wheeler) Smith. He served honorably and proudly in the United States Army during the post Korean War era and owned his own flatwork business for a number of years. David was an avid runner in his earlier years and cherished the time he was able to spend with his loving grandchildren.
David is survived by his children, Allison Smith and her husband Jeffrey Steeves, Michael D. Smith and his wife Wendy, and Valerie Smith, all of Thomaston; his son-in-law, David Scougall; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Alex, Stephen, Darianna, Alexander, William and Emaline; two nieces; and two nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Richard W. Smith and Nelda Haley.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 5:00 P.M. at the Thomaston United Methodist Church, 34 E. Main St, Thomaston. Burial will be held privately. There are no calling hours.
