Thomaston- Dianne Holmes Martin passed away on Tuesday, March 24th at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford.
She was born in Providence at the Women and Infants Hospital on September 26, 1957. She is survived by her parents, Alfred Harlow Holmes and Jean Livermore Holmes, of Naugatuck.
In addition, she leaves her husband Chris of 32 years, and their 5 children, Sean Kendall Martin of Phoenix AZ, David Holmes Martin of New Haven, Elizabeth Lyons Martin of Thomaston, Patrick Bradford Martin of Portsmouth NH, and Hannah Scotton Martin of Burlington VT. She also leaves a brother, Kendall Scotton Holmes and his wife Elizabeth of Bolton MA, and a sister, Dana Jean McAllister and her husband Wayne McAllister of Naugatuck.
Dianne recently retired from the American School for the Deaf (ASD) after 32 years. There she served as a teacher for many years before going on to work in the States Birth to Three Program, first as a family counselor and ultimately as one of its program managers based at ASD.
She graduated from University of Connecticut in 1979 with a bachelors degree in Child Development and Family Studies before completing her masters degree in Deaf Education at Western Maryland College in 1982.
She was a dedicated wife, mother and friend. Dianne worked tirelessly on behalf of Connecticuts families and children. She will be remembered as an energetic person with an enormous capacity for love and concern for others.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be on Saturday, from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St., followed by a service at 11:30 A.M. at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston.
