Mrs. Dorothy E. (Odell) Darasz HARWINTON Dorothy O. Darasz, 84, of South Rd., died at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital on Sunday, September 12, 2010. She was the widow of Walter S. Darasz. Dorothy was born March 8, 1926, in Thomaston, daughter of the late Harold E. and Ada (Round) Odell. Dorothy was a member of the Thomaston American Legion Auxiliary, the Harwinton Senior Center and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of the Harwinton Womens Club for many years and she also worked the election polls in the past. Dorothy was an avid reader and bird watcher. She enjoyed traveling and loved the sun on her at the beach. She spent time working on genealogy, knitting and macram chairs. Dorothy made friends with everyone by being so active and outgoing. She found time to go to the movies with her friends and play bingo. She was a devoted mother, as she raised her four children on her own after Walter passed early in their lives. She will be missed by her friends, family, and her cat Smokey, whom she loved all dearly. She is survived by three sons, Paul J. Darasz of Harwinton, Peter H. Darasz of New Hampshire, Philip Darasz of Maine, a daughter Pamela Rieley of North Carolina, a sister, Judith G. Famiglietti of Thomaston, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many friends. Arrangements: A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 15th at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
