Thomaston- Mrs. Dorothy C. Hathway, 86, died Monday, February 27, 2012 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Ret. USAF Col. Randal B. Hathway to whom she was married for 62 years.
Mrs. Hathway was born on December 13, 1925 and raised in Durham, CT a daughter of the late Webster and Anne (Campbell) Chapman. She was a 1944 graduate of Durham High School and received a B.S. in Home Economics from the University of Connecticut in 1948. Mrs. Hathway had served on the Elderly Commission in town; had been a Cub Scouts Dem Mother and taught Sunday School for many years.She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Thomaston and its Womens Fellowship; Charter member of the Thomaston Womens Club; and past president of the Thomaston Ladies Choral Club. She loved her gardening and life as a homemaker.
She leaves three sons, Alan W. Hathway of Northfield, Keith C. Hathway and his wife Janice of Thomaston, Bruce B. Hathway of Thomaston; a daughter Virginia H. Way of Waterbury; a sister, Virginia Harmon of Durham; five grandchildren, Nathan, Kevin, Joshua, Erin and Chelsea Hathway; and daughter-in-law Anne Marie Hathway. She was predeceased by her son, Randal P. Hathway.
The funeral will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. the First Congregational Church of Thomaston.Burial will be held in the spring in Hillside Cemetery, Thomaston. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Book of Remembrance at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston, 135 Main St., Thomaston, CT 06787.
