Edward Russell "Pop" Chadwick

August 10, 1941 – July 23, 2026

Edward Russell Chadwick, affectionately known to everyone as "Pop," passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born on August 10, 1941, Pop lived a life defined by hard work, service, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family. A proud United States Air Force Pilot veteran, he served his country honorably before pursuing a career that reflected his lifelong passion for mechanics and aviation. He was a skilled pilot, an exceptionally talented mechanic, and a successful courier business owner. His ability to repair and build almost anything mechanical became legendary among family, friends, and customers alike. Pop could repair an abnormal range of things even for a mechanic, he’d tackle cars, transmissions, hydraulics, heavy equipment, power equipment, airplanes, and any household mechanical system.

Pop worked tirelessly throughout his life, often putting in long days and countless hours of overtime to provide for his family. His work ethic was matched only by his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether someone needed advice, helping hands, sarcasm, or simply encouragement, Pop was always ready to help. Pop was also an amazing cook when he wanted to be.

Beyond his remarkable mechanical talents, Pop will be remembered for his generous heart, quick wit, and unmistakable brutally sarcastic sense of humor. He had a way of making people laugh, even in difficult moments, and his blatant honesty endeared him to everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. Pop had no filter; you never knew what was going to come out of his mouth. Whatever came out of his mouth was typically quite surprising and always hysterical.

After a lifetime of hard work, Pop retired in 2006, enjoying the opportunity to spend more time with the people he loved most doing the things he wanted to do.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Christine Noel Chadwick, who passed away on October 21, 2001; his parents, Edward C. and Lenore R. Chadwick; and his siblings, Charles “Billy” Chadwick and Lenore L. Chadwick.

He leaves behind his loving son and daughter-in-law, Mike & Betsy Chadwick and his cherished granddaughters, Hannah and Samantha. He is also survived by his loving daughter, Danielle, along with extended family members and dear friends who were blessed to know him.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 11 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston. A funeral home service will be held at 7:00 p.m. followed by full military honors. Burial will be held privately.

While our hearts are broken by his passing, we take comfort in knowing that Pop has been welcomed into the loving arms of his Savior. His faith, strength, kindness, and love for his family will continue to guide those he leaves behind and his legendary sarcasm will carry on for many more generations.

Pop's legacy is not measured by the things he owned, but by the lives he touched, the family he loved, and the countless people who were made better because they knew him.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
