Thomaston- Mr. Edward H. Hotchkiss, 84, of High Street, died Thursday morning, February 14 at Cook Willow Convalescent Home in Plymouth. He was the husband of the late Joyce (Hubbell) Hotchkiss.
Mr. Hotchkiss was born October 17, 1923 in Hartford son of the late Edward G. and Grace (Root) Hotchkiss.
Edward attended UCONN and went on to the Armed Forces and served as a communications specialist an WWII in the Asian Theater. He worked for many years in an array of fields of which include real estate, insurance, funeral services and car washes. He became an independent Insurance agent after he went to school at Aetna. Lived in the Thomaston area his entire life and spent time and some years at his winter home in Florida. He is remembered for being an avid reader, loved history, traveling the world and was a Red Sox and Patriots fan. He restored one of the Seth Thomas houses in a labor of love.
He is survived by one son, Edward G. Hotchkiss and his wife Catherine of Milford; three daughters, Susan Holway of Northfield, Mary Beth Johnson of Thomaston and Katherine Feltes and her husband Tom of Wethersfield; one brother Stanley R. Hotchkiss of Port Arthur, TX; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Gardner and Hayden and two sisters, Dorothy and Frances, predeceased him.
Arrangements: A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, February 17 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M, with a service at 4:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. Burial will be private in HillsideCemetery in the spring.
