Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Heacox "Libbey" Litchfield - Elizabeth A. Heacox, 91, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2009 with friends and family at her bedside at Torrington Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the widow to Howard Heacox. Born on March 31, 1918, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Otto and Anna (Catlin) Handlowich. Libbey spent her life caring for all who knew her, putting everyone else first. She had a love of hummingbirds, gardening, flowers, butterflies, ceramics, her dolls, and most recently puzzles. She was an avid reader and arm shopper, ordering in a moment. She is remembered for always smiling never complaining and had a cast iron will even after two rounds of cancer and going through two amputations. Never giving up through hard times, she was always grateful. She is survived by two daughters Sandra Johnson and husband Gordon of Pleasant Valley, Marcia Mathews and husband Robert of Litchfield, eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Warren Remsen, two sisters, Dorothy Atwood and Florence Sutliffe. A calling hour will be Tuesday, September 15, from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service, at the Lyons Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Northfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made, in her name to; Torrington Health and Rehabilitation, Recreation Department, 225 Wyoming Ave. Torrington, CT 06790.
