Thomaston- Mrs. Evelyn M. (LeBlanc) Pecka, 86, of Center St. died, Thursday, September 20 at St. Marys Hospital in Waterbury. She was the widow of John I. Pecka.
Mrs. Pecka was born November 11, 1920 in Millinocket, Maine daughter of the late August and Melvina (Raymond) LeBlanc. She was a graduate of Millinocket - Sterns High School class of 1938and moved to Waterbury in 1940. She had worked for Shoe Hardware making zippers for the war effort. She had worked inside and outside her home for many years, especially as treasurer for Johnnys Auto Parts in Thomaston. She proudly wore the VFW Auxiliary uniform in many parades and lived in Wolcott before moving to Thomaston, CT, were she worked as a teachers aide over the years. For the past decade she was very involved in the Thomaston Seniors, keeping track of membership, birthdays and special occasions. She enjoyed being part of the senior group travel events.
She is survived by two sons, John A. Pecka of Silver City, NM and David J. Pecka and his wife Annmarie of Watertown; two daughters, Kitti Pecka wife of Thomas Wisler of Palo Alto, CA and Carolyn Pecka wife of Joseph J. Lango III of Wolcott; one brother, Lionel Barrow of Pleasant Valley, CT; two sisters, Ida Daske Santos of Chavez, Portugal and Joanne Rowe of Watertown; three grandchildren, Melvina Wisler, Devon Pecka and Erin Pecka.
Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 26 at 9:15 A.M. from the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston, CT to St. Thomas Church for mass at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Thomaston. Calling hours are Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
