Waterbury- Mrs. Evelyn A. Samson, a resident of the Village at East Farms, wife of the late Daniel P. Samson, M.D. died Monday, June 30, 2008. Mrs. Samson was born in Acton, MA in 1917, a daughter of the late Swen and Linda (Johnson) Hagen. She was graduated from Tufts College and received her Masters Degree from Mount Holyoke College. She and her husband, a family physician, lived in Thomaston before moving to Litchfield. She was proud of her family, their diversity in personality, their individual talents and the expression of them in their work or play. They were loving of their parents and each other. They learned to ski together and enjoyed both skiing and golfing. She was a lover of nature and a gardener and an advocate for education. Since 1948 she was a member of the First Congregational Church of Thomaston, a member of the Friends of the Thomaston Public Library, the Thomaston Opera House and the Thomaston Writers Society. She was a volunteer at the Waterbury Hospital and the Thomaston Public Library. She was a member of the Country Club of Waterbury for many years. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Linda A. Segalini and her husband Richard of Sunapee, NH and Ms Claudia H. Samson of NY, NY and one son, Daniel P. Samson, Jr of Spokane, WA; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren and a sister Avis Durham of Peabody, MA. She was predeceased by a brother and a sister. Arrangements: A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 3 at 10:00 A.M. at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Acton, MA will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the Lyons Funeral Home of Thomaston.
