Thomaston- Mr. Franklin E. Brody, 63, a thirty year resident of Thomaston, died Monday, November 17 at St. Marys Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Mary Ellen (Rush) Brody, a devoted wife and dignified caregiver.
Mr. Brody was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Ann Rothenberg and the late Herbert Brody. He was predeceased by his step-father Louis Rothenberg. He had served in the United States Navy and spent a number of years employed in high tech industries and operating his own consulting and contracting practice. He was an Aeronautical Sciences graduate of the Brooklyn Technical School, and a graduate of the US Navy aviation and technical schools. He had a life long passion for aviation, boating, radio and electronics, and held a commercial pilots license, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines licenses and had recently become an amateur radio operator.
Mr. Brody was retired, having managed Worldwide Operations for one of the Motorola, Inc. divisions. He had worked and traveled extensively in Asia and the Americas.
Besides his wife of 42 years he is survived by his mother, Ann Rothenberg of Brooklyn, NY and a brother, Eric Brody of Florida. Mr. Brody also leaves one son, Christopher Brody and his wife Patricia Jacques Brody of Thomaston and three daughters, Bridget Collins of Thomaston, Kimberly ORegan and her husband Richard ORegan of Burlington and Kerry Barber and her husband Thomas Barber, Jr of Austin, TX. Grampys corny jokes will be sadly missed by his 11 grandchildren, Caitlin and Timothy Collins, Katie, Jack, Mary and Connor Brody, Lauren, Morgan and Patrick ORegan and Abigail and Isabella Barber. Mr. Brody will also be missed by a large extended family of brothers and sisters in law, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and especially his cousin and best friend, Laura Milson of Brooklyn, NY.
Arrangements: Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, November 21 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church, Thomaston. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, November 20 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston.
