Thomaston Frederic L. Gilbert, 59, of Williams St., died unexpectedly Thursday March 11, 2010 at his home.
Mr. Gilbert was born February 25, 1951 in Waterbury to Mildred Virginia (Galpin) of Thomaston and the late Grover Earl Gilbert Sr. Fred was a graduate of Thomaston High School, Class of 1970. He worked in plating at Summit Finishing in Thomaston for many years. He had a love for riding his motorcycle, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was a frequent visitor at Rozzis Restaurant and was an avid card player. Fred will be remembered by his happiness and smile.
Besides his mother, Frederic is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Troutman of Prospect, Christine Gilbert of Waterbury, three sisters, Millie Cunningham and her husband Jack of Thomaston, Virginia Gilbert of Terryville, Joan Montalvo and her husband Julio of Waterbury, a grandson James Michael Troutman, three uncles Charles Balch of Watertown, Leon and James Galpin, both of Texas, an aunt, Pauline Didsbury of Plymouth, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, one great-great niece and many friends.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, March 16, from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street Thomaston. A service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Burial will be private.
