Obituary

Torrington- Mr. George A. Peck, Sr., 77, died Sunday, November 1, at Litchfield Woods Health Care, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Nancy (Bothroyd) Peck. Mr. Peck was born July 4, 1932 in Waterbury, son of the late Vincent W. and Ethel B. (Krom) Peck. Raised in Thomaston he attended local schools and Thomaston High School. He had worked for Plume and Atwood for 25 years, retiring in 1975. He then went to work for Bar-Work Manufacturing in Waterbury as a screw machine operator, retiring in 2004. A Korean War veteran, he had served honorably in the United States Army from December of 1952 until October of 1954. He received the Korean Service Medal with one bronze star, the Presidential Unit Citation, the United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the VFW in Thomaston and the Connecticut Ox Owners and Drivers Assoc. In addition to his wife he is survived by one son, George A. Peck, Jr and his wife Sandra of Torrington; two daughters, Lori A. Fournier and her husband Robert and Melissa L. Kavula and her husband Daniel all of Torrington; one brother, Robert B. Peck of Terryville; two sisters, Marjorie E. Cole and Carol A. DeLaRosa both of CA; five grandchildren, Taylor G. Peck, Michael H. Najman, Jessica Lee Fournier, Travis James Fournier and Kassie Carol-Lee Kavula. He was pre-deceased by his grandson, Brett Robert Peck; two brothers, Vincent W. Peck and Alvin Cuddy and one sister, Barbara E. Mugnai. Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 5 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. Burial with full military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until time of service.
