THOMASTON Gerald J. Williams Sr., 67, of Grove Street, died Friday August 15, 2008, after sustaining injuries in a motor vehicle accident along with his friend Robert Bailey.
Mr. Williams was born December 31, 1940 in New Britain, son of the late Kenneth J. Williams Sr. and Shirley (Demora). He worked for many years as a machinist at Hildreth Press in Bristol before his retirement. Gerald was a Viet Nam Vet in which he served in the U.S Air Force. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion of Thomaston Post 22, he frequented the V.F.W. of Watertown and was also a 40/8 member. As a member of the Legion he was very involved with the community as he was past Commander. Gerald also served the community while on the Thomaston Fire Department for 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
He leaves two sons; Gerald J. Williams Jr. of Illinois, Jamie Williams of Florida, two daughters, Bambie Douglas of South Carolina and Kim Swain of Virginia, several grandchildren, a nephew; two lifelong Friend Mike and Patty Kelly. He was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth James Williams Jr.
Arrangements: A memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 21, at the American Legion Post 22, Thomaston, at 6:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made, in his name to: The American Legion, 211 Elm Street, Thomaston, CT06787.
