Mrs. Gertrude E. Gizzie "Patty" THOMASTON- Gertrude E. (Centrella) Gizzie, 82, formerly of West Hillside Ave. died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at the Masonic Home in Wallingford. She was the widow to Vito A. Gizzie Gertrude was born to the late Emmanuel and Katherine E. (DiStiso) Centrella. She spent most of her life in Thomaston and was a former member of St. Thomas Church. She was very active at the YMCA in Waterbury where she played raquette ball. Spent time with many artistic hobbies including painting, ceramics and at one time taught sewing for the adult education in Thomaston as well as privately. Gert " loved spending summers at Marthas Vinyard. She is survived by two sons, Samuel J. Gizzie of Las Vegas, Marc P. Gizzie of Winsted, two daughters Elizabeth Guidone of Wallingford, Katherine Fuechsel of New Britain, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements: Calling hours will be held, Tuesday, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday at St. Thomas Church at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in HillsideCemetery in Thomaston.
