Thomaston- Mrs. Hedwig (Butkevicus) Vilkaitis, 90, of High Street Extension, died Thursday, December 6 at St. Marys Hospital in Waterbury. She was the wife of Hugo L. Vilkaitis. Mrs. Vilkaitis was born January 16, 1917 in Lithuania, daughter of the late Jousas and Vilhelmina Butkevicus. Raised in Lithuania she attended local schools and was a college graduate, she then went on to study art in Vienna, Austria. She immigrated to the United States in 1946 with her husband. She was a member of the Watertown Art Association and her work was exhibited in many locations, including Post University. In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by one son, John V. Vilkaitis of CA and one sister, Halina Butkevicus of Lithuania. Arrangements: All services are private. Arrangements are in the care of the Lyons Funeral Home of Thomaston.
