Obituary

Meriden Helen C. De Fiore, 95, of Meriden, formerly of Thomaston, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Meriden Center. She was the loving wife of the late Robert D. De Fiore. Helen was born on January 22, 1923 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Rocco and Rosemary (Cipriano) Ciriello. She attended local schools and was a graduate of Wilby High School, class of 1941. Helen enjoyed dancing, music, and the theater; loved family parties and her beloved dogs, Muffy and Lady. Helen is survived by her daughter, Roberta H. De Fiore of Meriden; her sister Gloria Graziano; 17 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings, Jospeh Ciriello, John Ciriello, Antoinette Nigro, and Ida Valente. She was also predeceased by two nephews: Joseph Ciriello, Jr. and Richard De Fiore. Family and friends may call on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 19 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church, 1 East Main St., Thomaston. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Helens name to Meriden ArtsTrust Inc. 501(c)(3), 50 Westerly Terrace, Meriden, CT 06451. Helens daughter Roberta is Vice President of this nonprofit agency dedicated to music and music education.
