Thomaston - Mrs. Helen (Czarnecki) Harkness, 83, died on Tuesday morning, February 9, at the Vitas Innovative Hospice Unit at St. Marys Hospital in Waterbury. She was the widow of Alexander Harkness.
Helen was born June 20, 1932 in Bristol, daughter of the late Joseph and Bernice (Raczka) Czarnecki. Raised in Bristol she attended local schools and was a graduate of Bristol High School class of 1950. She had been employed at the Wallace Barnes Co. in Bristol and Daytons Bus Service in Thomaston.
She is survived by five sons, David Harkness and his wife Maria, Bruce Harkness and his partner Bonnie, Brian Harkness and his wife Janet, Richard Harkness and his wife Andrea and Keith Harkness and his wife Kim; one daughter, Holly J. Kirk; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers and two sisters.
Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 14, from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will be in the spring in Hillside Cemetery, Thomaston.
