Obituary

Helene (Cousineau) Cyr, 87, of Thomaston died peacefully Monday, June 22nd at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington while surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Adrien B. Cyr, to whom she had been married for almost 62 years. Helene was born in Fall River, Mass and daughter of the late Emile and Florence (Duprez) Cousineau, she was a 1946 graduate of the Nursing School at St. Annes Hospital. She worked as both a VNA and private duty nurse. She married Adrien July 3, 1948. The family moved to Thomaston, CT in August of 1955, just in time for the historic flood. Helene worked as a nurse at St. Marys Hospital, Waterbury and at the Watertown Convalarium.She was a communicant of St. Thomas R.C. Church in Thomaston. Classical music and a loveof nature always reminded her of her strong faith in God. In addition to her husband she is survived by her children:four sons, Gerard and his wife Mary Ann of Norwell, MA; Maurice and his wife Marilyn of Rutland, VT; Arthur of Southington, CT; Roland and his wifeDebra of Unionville, CT, a daughter,Louise and her husband George Porto of Watertown, CT; one brother L. Phillipe and his wife Dorothy of Maineand a number of grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters and brothers, Marcelle Soares, Victor, Edmund, Yolande Marrion, Joseph Emile, Arthur, Henry, John and Paul. Donations can be made in her name to the St. Thomas Church building projects/maintenance fund. At her request, there is no wake. A memorial mass and internment of ashes will take place in August at the St. Thomas Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St, Thomaston, CT.
