Torrington Henry J. Pernal, 77, died early Sunday morning, July 23, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. Henry was born October 31, 1939 in New Britain, son of the late Sophie and Paul Pernal who immigrated to the United States from Poland. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, followed by Stanley Tiools in New Britain where he worked for many years before retiring. His passion was bowling where "The Hammer" knocked down strikes in his league year after year. He was an engaged dad who never missed a little league game, school play or whatever his kids were participants in. Henry is survived by his children, Paul Pernal and wife Beth of Litchfield; daughter, Stacey Pernal of San Diego, CA; brothers, John Pernal and wife Joy of New Hartford and Richard Pernal and wife Judy of Mesa, AZ; sister, Helen of Wallingford and many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, August 18, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church, 1 East Main St. Thomaston.
