Obituary

Thomaston- Mrs. Irene (Sandford) Tanner, 89, died Saturday, March 7 at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. She was the widow of Lewis H. Tanner. Mrs. Tanner was born September 22, 1919 in Sheffield, England daughter of the late Ernest and Bertha (Palmer) Sandford. An active member of the First Congregational Church of Thomaston she had been a member of the Womens Club and the Womens Fellowship and had formerly served as a Senior Citizen Tour Director. She is survived by one daughter, Jean Ann Collins of Port St. Lucie, FL; two granddaughters, Jennifer Thompson and Cheryl Collins both of Port St. Lucie; one great grandson, Carter Thompson and several nephews and nieces. Arrangements: Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 11 at 1:00 P.M. at the First Congregational Church of Thomaston. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours are Tuesday, March 10 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston.
