Thomaston- Mrs. Jeannette (Dery) Hayes, left this earth peacefully, surrounded by all of her loving family, to be with Jesus, her son Richard and her once very large family on Saturday, December 11 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of William Hayes, Sr.
Jeannette was born on January 10, 1938 in Waterbury daughter of the late William and Olive (Houle) Dery. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in Thomaston. She had worked for The Torrington Company for 30 years. Her interests included being with family and friends, traveling, especially to Hawaii and Florida, dancing, playing golf, bowling and many other activities.
In addition to her husband of 53 years, she is survived by her children, William Hayes, Jr and his wife Debbie of Watertown, John Hayes and his wife Debbie of Thomaston; grandchildren, Christine, Garrett, Justin Hayes and Seth Jenkins; great grandchildren, Jonathan and Kaleigh; brother, Bill Dery of Waterbury; sister, Rosemary Kozlowsky of Thomaston and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be extremely missed by all of her family.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Bowen and his staff for all of their efforts.
Arrangements: Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, December 14, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Church in Thomaston. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, December 13, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home 46 High St. Thomaston.
