Thomaston - Joan O. (Ozerhoski-Ziemba) Maloney, 93, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026. She was the wife of the late Patrick J. Maloney for 35 years.
Joan was born July 12, 1932 in Thomaston, daughter of Walter and Helen (Bulbacienski) Ozerhoski. She graduated Thomaston High School, and was employed at Thomaston Savings Bank, Thomaston, for 37 years before retiring in 1994 as Vice President. She was Former Corporator of Thomaston Savings Bank from 1980-2007, Former President of Savings Bank Women of CT 1970-1971, Former member of Thomaston Auxiliary Police, Former member of St. Thomas Church choir for 30 years as a soloist at weddings and funerals.
Joan was an enthusiastic supporter of UCONN women’s and men’s basketball, self-taught artist in acrylic medium predominantly landscapes and seascapes, and looked forward to semi-annual vacations at Cape Cod MA.
She is survived by son, Allan A. Ziemba and his wife Diane, Thomaston, CT; stepdaughters Maura Maloney, Southington, CT and Kathleen Maloney, South Hadley, MA, stepson Timothy Maloney and his wife Lisa, Leicester, VT; two beloved granddaughters, Krista Broyles and her husband, Christopher, Beverly, MA and Alyssa Merrigan and her husband, Sean, of Upton, MA; great-grandsons Wyatt T. Broyles and Emmett A. Broyles, Beverly. MA
Decker T. Merrigan, Upton, MA; great-granddaughter Reese D. Merrigan, Upton, MA; stepgrandson Sean Partee of South Hadley, MA; sister-in-law Helen Ozerhoski, Thomaston, CT; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister Marianne Duval, Holyoke, MA and brother Eugene Ozerhoski, Thomaston.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 9 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 1 East Main Street, Thomason. Please meet directly at church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Bristol CT.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s name to Fine Arts Connection of Thomaston, P.O. Box 355, Thomaston, CT 06787.
