Thomaston John E. Rogers, 90, passed away on August 31, 2018, at Litchfield Woods. He was the husband of the late June Rogers. John was born in Waterbury on September 23, 1927, son of Maynard and May (Burton) (Byam) Rogers. Raised in Waterbury, John attended local schools, graduating from Crosby High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, as a Seabee during the Korean War. He worked at Scovill Manufacturing and retired from Truelove and McLean. John is survived by his son, Jay H. Rogers, and his wife, Bonnie, of MA; his three daughters, Judy R. Russell, of NY; Janice A. Bianchi, and her husband, David, of Torrington; and Jean R. Morton, and her husband, Robert, of Thomaston; his 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 niece; and 2 nephews. Including his wife of 65 years, he was predeceased by his brother, Bertram Byam, and his sister, Muriel Coley. The family would like to thank the staff of Litchfield Woods for the care provided to their father and to Ellie and Casey Beardslee for the homecare they provided. Calling hours will be held Saturday, September 8 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St. Thomaston. A service will be held at 3 p.m. at the Covenant Church 64 Grove St. Thomaston.
