Plymouth- John Jules Unfricht, 69, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016.
John was born on July 1, 1946 in Bridgeport, CT to the late August John and Jeanette (Parent) Unfricht. John graduated from Cheshire Academy; Cornell; and the University of New Hampshire, where he earned his MBA. He enrolled in the Navy where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He worked as an internal auditor for USPS in Washington, DC. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 22 years. He served as Board of Director for the Plymouth library, and volunteered for the Food Bank in Plymouth. He was also in The H.S. Liederkranz German Singing Society. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading cowboy poetry. Most importantly, John loved his family and cherished them dearly.
John is survived by his brother, William Unfricht, and his wife, Mary, of Beacon Falls; his sisters, Victoria Unfricht, of Branford; and Jean Loethen, of East Haven; his niece, Bree Loethen; his nephews, Gregory Unfricht, and his wife, Laura; and Darryn Unfricht, and his wife, Vickie; and his great nieces, Natalie, Sophie, Noelle; and great nephew, Samuel Unfricht.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 25 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 1 East Main Street, Thomaston. Full Military honors will follow outside of the church. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Johns name to the organization of your choice.
