Joseph A. St. Denis, 86, of Thomaston died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital,Waterbury.He was the husband of the late Stasia (Rzeplinski) St. Denis (m. 1943-1995) and the late Catherine Rykoski St. Denis (m. 1998-2010).
Joe was born on October 30, 1925 inSt. Albans,VT, son of the late Aldei and Azilda (Bouthillier) St. Denis and came to Thomaston in 1956.A skilled machinist, Joe learned his trade atHallden Machine Co. and then retired after many years in the Plume & Atwood maintenance department.Despite this work experience, he alwaysconsidered himself a dairy farmer from Vermont. Anavid pool player at the Village, his sharp eye sent many a ball home to the corner pocket. Joe was also active in the Thomaston Senior Citizens group.
He leaves a daughter, Diane Tignor and her husband, Michael, of Watertown; two sons, Michael St. Denis and his wife, Margaret, and Thomas St. Denis and his wife, Teresa, all of Simsbury; a brother, John St. Denis and his wife, Rose, of Thomaston; a sister, Rejeanne Kleindienst and her husband, Edward, of Bethlehem; six grandchildren, Lisa, Michael, Daniel, Martin and Natalie St. Denis and Victoria Tignor.As well as many nieces and nephews.Joe was predeceased by four brothers: Leonard, Maurice, Joseph A. (George) and Joseph R. (Sam), one sister, Marie Ducharme, and a grandson, Timothy Tignor.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Village at East Farms Harbor in Waterburyfor the wonderful care and friendship given to Joe while he was a resident there.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held directly atSt. Thomas Church, Thomaston at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012. Burial will be private at the familys convenience.
