Thomaston- Josephine Gertrude Cerny, 72, resident of Thomaston since 2009, passed away on Thursday, May 14, at the Waterbury Hospital.
Josephine was born on October 26, 1942, in New Jersey, daughter of the late John William and Gertrude (Kruger) Cerny. Josephine had worked at Scarpellis Restaurant and Busy Bee Nursery School in Torrington. She enjoyed listening to Elvis Presleys music and watching his movies; she was New York Yankees fan and cherished the time she was able to spend with family and friends.
Josephine is survived by her one son, Vincent Decker; her four daughters, Joyce Stillman, Joann Barberet, Mary-ann Viltrakis and Diane Carroll; her daughter-in-law, Darlene (Arnold) Decker, son-in-laws, Kerry Barberet, Sam Stillman; her six granddaughters, Katrina Decker, Nicole Barberet, Christie Viltrakis, Lauren Viltrakis, Kaylyn Barberet and Lindsay King; her five sisters, Diane, Alice, Doris, Rita and Helen; her four brothers, Johnny, Thomas, Harry and William and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Theresa Cerny and brother Charles Cerny.
The family would like to thank the staff at Waterbury Hospital and Vitas Hospice for providing excellent care and support.
Arrangements: The family will be having a memorial barbeque for Josephine at a later date.
