Josephine L. Kelley
THOMASTON Josephine L. Kelley, 89, of Green Manor, died at St. Marys Hospital on Monday, April 14, 2009. She was the widow of Joseph Kelley.
Josephine was born July 16, 1919, in Boston, Daughter of the late Victor and Bridget (Manning) Lamprey.
Josephine was a member of St. Thomas Church of Thomaston. With the knitting group there she did a lot of knitting over the years for soldiers and Susan B. Anthony. They also made hats for the new born babies at St. Marys Hospital. She was a very creative woman when it came to sewing, cross stitching, flower arrangements, quilting, making Christmas ornaments, and painting ceramics. She loved playing cribbage, bridge and set back with her friends and family. Josephine spent her life taking care of her family especially her eight children and her husband, as they were most important to her. She was an exceptional cook and baker and could prepare a meal in no time.
She is survived by her loving family, William & Pam Kelley of La, Richard & Tota Kelley and John & Suzi Kelley of TX, Brian & Grace Kelley and Peggy & Terry Duffy of Thomaston, Kay Kelley of CA, Eileen Kelley of FLA, two brothers, Bernard & James Chandler, both of ME, eighteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by daughter Elizabeth Kelley and son Walter Kelley. Arrangements: A mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, directly at St. Thomas Church at 9:00 A.M. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston.
