Obituary

Laurence Decker Sr, age 83, of Thomaston CT passed away peacefully on Saturday June 21st, surrounded by the love of his family, reunited with his beloved wife, Carol, who predeceased him in 2001.

Born on June 5, 1942 in Torrington, CT, he was the son of the late Raymond Decker and Theresa (Marinkas) Decker. He retired from Petit Tool and Manufacturing, where he was known for his sharp mind, strong work ethic and dedication.

Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He cherished raising his family and creating memories in the house he built on Walnut Hill Rd in Thomaston. He and Carol loved traveling, especially their trips to the casino and time spent exploring new places. Summers were filled with vacations to Hampton Beach and neighborhood picnics with the Stones and Duffanys.

He loved coaching his sons in Little League and flag football and enjoyed watching his children play sports. Whether in the stands, on the sidelines, or the dance recitals of his daughter, he was always there with quiet support and encouragement. He especially cherished his role as a grandfather-he deeply loved his grandchildren and took great pride in their accomplishments-both in sports and life. He was a UConn fan and enjoyed watching the men's and women's basketball teams.

Larry shared a special bond with his brothers, enjoying regular rounds of golf and bowling nights. Their laughter, camaraderie, and shared stories were a constant source of joy and strength throughout his life.

Larry is survived by his three children; Charlene Scarpati and her husband Joseph of Prospect; Laurence Decker Jr. and his wife Tracy of Thomaston, Lance Decker of Torrington; and his five grandchildren Erica DeCasanova (Jon), Joseph Scarpati, Kylie Decker, Nicole Decker, and Madison Decker.

He also leaves his brothers, Raymond Decker and his wife Daisy, Gordon Decker and his wife Bernice, Walter Decker and his wife Charlene, Lee Decker (Joyce), his sister Patricia May; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Terry.

Laurence will be remembered for his steady presence, his love of family, and creating wonderful and lasting memories with family and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston. A funeral service will directly follow at 12:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Torrington, with burial at Hillside Cemetery in Torrington.
