IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lynn Jana
Griffen
October 6, 1951 – August 28, 2025
Middlebury – Lynn Jana (Cyr) Griffen, 73, passed away of natural causes, peacefully in her home on Thursday, August 28, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Griffen, who predeceased her in 2013.
Born in Waterbury on October 6, 1951, Lynn's love was the steady light that guided her family—especially her grandchildren—with warmth, compassion, and unwavering care. She had a heart full of kindness not only for the people in her life but also for every animal she encountered.
Lynn began her college education at Western State University before getting married and starting a family. Later in life, she proudly returned to school, earning her paralegal certificate and furthering her education by receiving an Associate of Science degree in Accounting Technology from St. Petersburg Junior College. Her commitment to lifelong learning was a testament to her determination and resilience.
She was proud of her multilingual abilities, speaking French, Spanish, and Nigerian, to name a few—reflecting her love of cultures and her deep connection to people from all walks of life.
Her faith was her foundation. A devoted Jehovah's Witness, Lynn reaffirmed her commitment through rebaptism as a member of the West Naugatuck congregation. She found joy in life's simple pleasures—whether it was the melody of an Oldies tune, a game of cards, or the delicate beauty of a blooming flower. She surrounded herself with the small wonders she treasured and would do anything for her children or grandchildren just to see them happy.
Lynn was predeceased by her son, Raymond Charles Bottass Jr. (2021), and her beloved dog, Eddie.
She is survived by her cherished children: Kenneth Joel Bottass (Noella); Jana Rose Bottass (Justin Lavertue); and Carrie Mae Veronesi (Jonathan Serenson). She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Victoria, Ryan, Danielle, Alex, Alana, Kendall, Tyler, Jackson, and Adrien.
She will be lovingly remembered by her siblings and their spouses: Loreen Diaz (Emilio), Larry Cyr (Nancy), Loretta Cyr, Lorraine Clark, Lucille Maslak (Darryl), and Lizabeth Krasnowski (William). She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Josephine D'Aloia Bottass; her devoted caregiver who was like family, Lola Babs; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
