Obituary

Thomaston - Mary C. Reynolds, 83 of Thomaston, died peacefully at her home on June 27. She was the widow of Erwin B. Reynolds, her cherished husband of 18 years, who left us much too soon. "Mother" Mary was born in Waterbury on October 18, 1939, the daughter of the late Frank H. Conway, Sr. and Theresa (Esposito) Conway. She is predeceased by her 7 siblingsFrank Jr. (Con), James (Bucky), Jack, Joe, Betty, Michael, and Bill. She was a resident of Waterbury until 1980 when she met her beloved "Erv" and moved to Thomaston, where she spent the remainder of her life. Mary attended the Waterbury schools and was salutatorian of the Wilby High School class of 1957. A day after her high school graduation, she began working as the chief stenographer at Connecticut Light and Power on Freight Street. She would often share fond memories of those she worked with there and kept in touch with so many of them, years after her retirement in 1981. It was at CL&P that she met Erv and they married on April 12, 1980. It was shortly after that Mary and Erv welcomed their two children into the world, Michael and Kathleen, who Mary often referred to as "my life". Mary was an amazing stay-at-home mom, an excellent baker, and always put her family first before herself. She never missed a school event or basketball, soccer, or softball game, for which she often packed kids or other families into the big green van to get there. In 1998, she lost her beloved Erv and we will never forget how he changed her life forever. She went back to work when Mike and Kathleen were older as a paraprofessional at both Thomaston Center School and Black Rock School from 1998-2011. The children loved her and affectionately called her "Grandma" and would always comment on her beautiful hair. Upon her retirement from the schools, she spent all her time caring for othersher siblings Jack, Joe, and Betty in particular, when they became ill. Mary enjoyed the company of others and met everyone she encounterednew or old friendswith a hug and her infectious smile. She was a devout Catholic and faithful parishioner of St. Thomas (Maximilian Kolbe Church) in Thomaston, where she was once a CCD teacher and member of the Parish Council. If you knew Mary, you knew she carried with her a stack of prayers and her rosary beads, and there was not a day that went by when she was not praying for and thinking of others. She never missed a friend or relatives birthday, or an anniversary, and would either call or send a card to let her know she was thinking of you. Mary leaves behind her son, Michael, and wife Andrea, of Winooski, Vermont, along with the joy of Marys life, their daughter Avery; her daughter Kathleen, of Thomaston, and her beloved grand doggies; her stepdaughter Lori, of Vermont; stepson Mark and wife, Paulette, of Clinton; her stepson Reed and wife Darlene of Sunset Beach, North Carolina. Mary also leaves behind several nieces and nephews (she was the "fun aunt"), seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Mary and her family would like to especially thank Dr. Ehsan Ansari of Cardiology Associates of Waterbury for his special care and attention he gave to her for many years. It was not uncommon for him to leave the room by saying "Love you, Mary!" at the end of each appointment.
