Harwinton- Mrs. Mary (Blasco) Santoro, passed on to eternal rest on Friday, September 12. She was the wife of the late Raymond R. Santoro of Harwinton and daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine Blasco of Thomaston, sister of the late Lawrence Blasco of New York. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Santoro Lowry of Avon, her son; Daniel Santoro and his wife Kathleen of Harwinton; her grandchildren, Jacqueline Santoro and Rachel Santoro. She also leaves behind her niece Judy Perrin of New York, her nephew, Vincent Perrotti of FL and many dear friends, especially Anna Koplar of Torrington.
A faithful Catholic, Mary was most happy when serving the Lord and her children. She was a loving mother and friend. In her early years she taught religious education classes. She was a member of the womens guild and Rosary prayer committee. She prayed for the sick and offered her assistance to several outreach committees. She was proud that her husband cemented a relic into the altar of the church at its beginning. Mary met her husband, Raymond, at the famous Seth Thomas Clock Shop in Thomaston, where they worked together and fell in love. She and her husband were able to realize their dream of opening an ice cream and sandwich shop on the green in Litchfield. Before God took Raymond home, they enjoyed 41 years together. After that Mary devoted her time to her son and his young family. She also enjoyed time with her daughter at dinners, movies, plays, ocean vacations, trips to the casino and visits to Catholic Shrines. At home, she was happy planting her vegetable garden and sharing her crop. Mary was employed at Stars Department Store in Torrington, where she made many friends.
