Obituary

Thomaston- Mrs. Mary L. (Evors) Simpson, 95, died Thursday, January1, 2009. She was the widow of Joseph N. Simpson. Mrs. Simpson was born September 3, 1913 daughter of the late Charles D. and Mamie J. (Murphy) Evors, in Florida. She came to Thomaston in 1944 and was employed at Seth Thomas Clock then went to work at Tyler Automatics and finished her working years at Metallon in Thomaston as a machine operator, Mary was known as "Bodine Mary" due to her ability to run five machines simultaneously, she retired from there after ten years. Mary was a member of St. Peters Trinity Episcopal Church of Thomaston and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed eating, gardening, crossword puzzles, oil painting, shopping, meeting and talking with anyone, and camping every weekend up until two years ago. Her family holds dear many fond happy memories. She is survived by a daughter, Mamie W. Watley of Thomaston, two sisters, Zaida Smith and Ruby Montgomery both of Fla., three grandchildren, Robert W. Watley Sr. of Goshen, Joseph J. Watley Sr. of Thomaston, Nancy L. Griswold of Thomaston, ten great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Danny Watley and many brothers and sisters. Arrangements: A funeral service will be held today (SAT) at 7:00 P.M. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston. Calling hours will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Burial will be in the spring at Hillside Cemetery of Thomaston.
