Northfield Melvin Roy Plummer, 85, of Northfield, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. He was the loving husband of Jo Ann (Johnson) Plummer. Melvin was born on May 31, 1937 in Portland, Maine, son of the late Frederick and Marion (Berry) Plummer. Melvin served honorably and proudly in the United States Air Force. Melvin loved his family and his greatest joys were is children and grandchildren. The love for his wife was immense and he insisted on holding his brides hand everywhere they went and did so up to his last moments. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and camping. He was a long time member of the Northfield Bible Church in Northfield. Besides his wife, Melvin is survived by his children, Lee Pinsonneault, Susan Plummer, Sally Berglund, and Jo Ann Joray; his grandchildren, Richard Pierce III, Josh Pierce, C.J. Boni, Wendy Turner, Daniel and Alexandria Lowell, Jesse and Gregory Berglund, and David, Joseph, and Mackenzie Joray. He was predeceased by his daughter, April Lowell, and his brother Frederick Plummer Jr. Calling hours are Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Northfield Cemetery.
