Thomaston Bruce A. Jacques, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 18, after a long illness.
Bruce was a lifelong resident of Thomaston and Northfield and leaves behind his loving and adoring wife Karen, who he had shared the last 45 years with.
Bruce attended Litchfield schools and the University of Connecticut before entering the United States Coast Guard, where he served on a rescue helicopter on Lake Michigan. Shortly after his service he went to work for the Treadwell Corporation in Thomaston where he worked until his retirement, having serviced systems on U.S. Navy submarines around the world. He was well regarded for his ingenuity and resourcefulness.
Bruce was a member of the American Legion Clifford French Post 22 and a life member of the Thomaston Fish and Game Club, where he enjoyed the company of his many friends. He truly appreciated the outdoors and loved to fish with Karen all year, be it at Twin Lakes, Lake Champlain or the fish and game pond, they shared this simple pleasure together.
Besides his wife Karen, Bruce leaves his son Kenneth of North Carolina and granddaughters, Kaylee and Kendra, sister Joyce Broulliard of Thomaston, sister, Debra Doucette of Tennessee along with many nieces. Bruce was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Elsie (Winters) Jacques and his son, Stephen Jacques.
Funeral services and burial are private.
