Thomaston Mr. Carl G. Griswold, 66, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Watley) Griswold. Carl was born June 26, 1957 in Winsted, son of the late Carl and Glenda A. (Caldwell) Griswold. Raised in Winsted, he attended local schools and was a graduate of Oliver Wolcott Technical High School. He worked as a toolmaker at Metallon, Inc. in Thomaston for 45 years, serving as a mentor to many young toolmakers and as a union steward. Many years ago, he was a lieutenant in the Winsted Fire Department and performed cold water rescues. He will be remembered for his passion for snowmobiles and motorcycles, and he enjoyed many trips to Lake George, Washington D.C., and Canada with his family and Las Vegas with his friends. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jessica, Carl, William, Michael, Jennifer, and Michelle; seven grandchildren; two aunts; and many cousins. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at RAFS on Waterbury Road in Thomaston. His final ride will take place on Sunday, meeting at Caf Uno (Riders) on Waterbury Road in Thomaston at 11:00 A.M. and ending with a graveside service at the Old Hemlock Cemetery on Colebrook River Road in Colebrook at 1:00 P.M.
