Palm Bay, FL - Mr. Charles R. "Chuck" Fray, Jr., 70, formerly of Thomaston, died Sunday, May 26th at St. Marys Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut. He was husband to Deborah C. (Busby) Fray. Mr. Fray was born May 6th, 1943, in Bridgeport, CT, the son of the late Charles R. Sr. and Wilma (Lisko) Fray. He was a graduate of Thomaston High School, St. Bonaventure University and received his Masters Degree from the University of Hartford. He began his teaching career at NWR7, and retired in 2011 after 47 years as a teacher, guidance counselor, and administrator. He was a kind, loving man, who enjoyed his many years at Region 7 working with students and staff, and will be leaving behind many close friends and family. Chuck was just into his early years of retirement, enjoying life in Vermont and Florida, and will be missed immensely. Mr. Fray was an extremely active member of the community where he served as a lay minister at The Covenant Church in Thomaston for almost ten years, and as a minister for the Tres Dias Community in North West Connecticut. He was both a member and chaplain of the Thomaston Rotary Club. He not only served as an auxiliary policeman in the Thomaston, Terryville, and MDC Police Departments, but also as a Sheriffs Deputy of Litchfield County for 20 years. Mr. Fray was also working on his doctorate in ministry. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Charlie R. Fray and his wife Ginger of Spring, TX, and Christopher R. Fray and his wife Angela of Northfield; one step-son, Bill Donat and his wife Naomi of Manchester; one step-daughter, Christie A. Grabherr and her husband Michael of Thomaston and six young grandchildren. Arrangements: Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 31st, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston, CT 06787. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 1st, at 5:00 P.M. at The Covenant Church, 64 Grove St., in Thomaston. Burial will be private.
