Obituary

THOMASTON - Mr. Frank Arthur Potter, 79, formerly of 139 Clay Street, widower of Diana L. (MacKenzie) Potter, died June 26, 2011 at Waterbury Hospital. Mr. Potter was born in Waterbury on April 14, 1932 son of the late Howard F. Potter and Evelyn (Atwood) Potter of Watertown. He was a 1950 graduate of Watertown High School. Upon his marriage to Diana, he moved to Thomaston where he lived until 2007 when he entered Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck. Frank was employed by Tech Systems Corporation of Thomaston retiring in 1992. Mr. Potter was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Air Force, and after discharge served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Potter was a former member of the Thomaston Fire Department, Hook and Ladder Company Number 1 and later served as a member of the Board of Fire Commissioners. He was a member of the American Legion, Clifford R. French, Post 22, for more than 40 years. Mr. Potter was a fan of both the UCONN mens and womens basketball teams and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. He leaves a son, Scott H. Potter of Thomaston, with whom he made his home until his illness; twin daughters, Mrs. Sandra J. Migliorisi of Harrisburg, PA and Cynthia M. Potter of Darien. Also mourning his loss are his grandchildren, Matthew D.P. Migliorisi of Schenectady , NY; Justin A. Migliorisi of Simsbury; Nicholas F. Migliorisi and Marissa N. Migliorisi, both of Harrisburg. He also leaves a son-in-law, Donald F. Migliorisi of Harrisburg, PA and his favorite, Jill M. Tomasello of Darien. Among his survivors are several nieces and nephews. ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral Wednesday, June 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Covenant Church of Thomaston, 64 Grove Street, Thomaston. Burial: Hillside Cemetery, Thomaston. The family will receive relatives and friends at Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High Street, Thomaston, Tuesday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family kindly requests that contributions in Franks memory be made to the Thomaston Volunteer Fire Department, 245 South Main Street, Thomaston or Beacon Brook Health Center, Resident Council, 98 Weid Drive, Naugatuck. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Beacon Brook Health Center for the kind and compassionate care Frank received while he was a resident there and also the staff of Waterbury Hospital, Pomeroy 6 and VNA Hospice Program for the care and support Frank and the family received in the hospital while he was a patient there.
